Growth hormone (GH), also known as somatotropin, is a peptide hormone produced and secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. Doctors diagnose GHD with blood tests to measure IGF-1 and GH levels after stimulation tests with insulin, arginine, glucagon, or clonidine. They may also order MRI scans to visualize the pituitary gland.

Treatment

Treatment for low GH involves daily GH injections to restore normal levels. The injections can help people regain normal height, muscle mass, bone density, and energy levels.
